With exports up and imports down, the nation's trade deficit narrowed sharply in April to begin second-quarter GDP on a very positive note. Tariff effects in the trade data have been limited so far.
The Dow jumped 1.4 percent to 25,146 to bring its weekly gain to 2.1 percent. Money backed out of bonds with the 10-year Treasury yield up 5 basis points on the day to 2.97 percent and back near 3 percent. The 2-year yield rose 3 basis points to 2.52 percent. The dollar index eased 0.3 percent to 93.63.
