Monster collects job postings from 1,500 web sites (including Monster.com) and creates an index of job availability, akin to The Conference Board's help wanted index. Highlights
The Monster Employment Index fell to 167 in December from 175 in November. Along with yesterday's ADP estimate, the Monster index is indicating weak results for tomorrow's employment report. Challenger's layoff count is up later this morning.
